Balance

Last year, I chose to do Technocraft as my design studio as I was drawn to the experimental technology involved in combining 3D printing and ceramics. Having previously built my own 3D printer at home, I was very curious about the inner-workings of the machine. The fact that the entire extruder set-up was custom made and highly experimental was one of the most interesting aspects of the studio. Watching the integration of the intricate UR10 robot and a super-sized syringe packed full of clay was quite fascinating. Developing strong critical thinking skills was pivotal to coordinating multiple programs to make the machine operational. The inspiration for our final four vases was balance. By manipulating balance plates, we aimed to create an almost playful connection between the 3D printer and clay.
